Summer Pruning Workshop at Healthy Homeland

About the event
You don't only have to prune your fruit trees in the cold weather! Come join us and Urban Forestry at Healthy Homeland community orchard to learn how selective fruit thinning (culling) in the summer is a fantastic way to promote overall tree health and get your trees to produce the biggest & healthiest fruit possible. Event will start with a demonstration on proper culling techniques to use followed by some hands on practice with the apple, pear, quince, and persimmon trees in the orchard. Training, tools, and gloves provided.
WHAT TO BRING:
-Your own tools and/or gloves, if you have some you prefer!
-Dress for work/weather
-Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, or provide a signed youth waiver. (Sign at event or request a PDF by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org)
-Use a restroom beforehand! No restroom on site.
From 4th Plain Boulevard, turn north on 65th Avenue, which becomes 66th. On the right, just past the car dealership, parking is available in a gravel lot facing the community garden. Overflow parking is available on 66th/65th Avenue. The Vine rapid transit bus drops off nearby at 4th Plain and 65th Avenue.
